An art teacher with over thirty years of experience, Julie saw that many people who had enjoyed being creative in the past (often at school) were afraid to try their hand again, lacking in confidence to just have a go.
She set about devising fun lessons based more on tips and techniques that would allow everyone to produce work of value. Julie really believes anyone can draw and paint!
As a painter, Julie’s acrylic seascapes are featured in many galleries but she is also an avid sketcher and rarely goes anywhere without a sketchbook.

About Wellow Art Academy
Wellow Art Academy is an established art school based in the beautiful Isle of Wight countryside.
Our online lessons are filmed in Julie’s sunny studio which is in fact a quirky converted caravan!
The weekly lessons are based on an easy-to-follow format and students get plenty of extra tips, demos and links. There is no beginning or end to the course, and video lessons contain enough challenges for both beginner and more experienced student.
Above all the aim is to enjoy the creative process!
Our Artistic Community
One of our main aims is to encourage a thriving, friendly online creative community and the ever-expanding forum is great place to start. Students drop in to pick up lessons notes, see what’s new, share images and get personal feedback from Julie.
There’s also a relaxed, private Facebook group for students to use.
There are twice weekly Zoom “catch-up” meetings which are great for putting faces to names and general arty chat; students can join in with as much or as little as they want!
Above all Wellow Art Academy strives to keep its community inspired, in-touch, encouraged and confident.
